Split a partnership K-1 “book” PDF into separate files

For CPA firms

TaxProTalk-style threads describe breaking a big PDF into separate PDFs when every K-1 uses the same page count. Split PDF into files does that by pages-per-file, with optional passwords, in the browser.

What preparers search for

Phrases like “split PDF every 4 pages” or “multiple K-1s one file” show up every season. The portal gave one concatenated export; you need one PDF per partner for your workpaper naming or to email selectively.

Split PDF into files workflow

Confirm each K-1 block is the same length. Set pages per file to that number, run the split, then open output filename settings: Split PDF into files reads text from each chunk and can name files with a pattern (for example partner plus entity abbreviation). Adjust placeholders to match your firm’s convention instead of renaming dozens of generic splits by hand. See Bulk-split with smart file names for the full story. If blocks vary, use Extract PDF pages for ranges instead.

Limitation

Equal page counts only. Mixed-length K-1s still need manual range extraction or source software that exports per partner.
